If you are living with cancer, complementary therapies can be highly beneficial. There are benefits if you are or are not being treated for cancer or have finished your treatment.
Complementary therapies are not a substitute for traditional medicine. They cannot cure cancer and should only ever be used alongside conventional medicine and with the consent of your consultant, oncologist or healthcare team.
Complementary therapies may:
- Help you to relax, reducing feelings of stress and anxiety
- Offer caring, nurturing non-medical touch
- Help you to feel a bit better, improving your quality of life
- Enable restful sleep
- Help you to cope better with some of the symptoms of your cancer or your cancer treatment
